It’s that time of year again, pawpaw season. This elusive plant, indigenous to the northern Carolinian forest, historically ranging from parts of the southeastern United States to southeastern Canada and is the only temperate tropical fruit tree in southwestern Ontario. Aromas of mango and banana give it a singular flavour profile for our cool climate cuisine.

This delicious Ark of Taste passenger is a focus of a Slow Food-inspired 5-course taste experience coming up in London, Ontario at Blackfriars Bistro with a wine pairing from Sprucewood Estates Winery. Chef Bryan Lavery, Emanuela Frongia, and farmers Paul and Sara Spence will be on hand with some other very special guests. We will be tasting items from the Canadian Ark of Taste and other uniquely local ingredients which reflect Canada’s vast, diverse landscape of peoples and foods. Save the date, Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Dinner is $60.00 with an optional $35.00 wine pairing. Reservations are required. 519 667-4930
