1976

New changes to Ontario liquor laws meant the province would get stand-up bars for the first time.

They called their restaurant KELSEYS after their favourite Chicago restaurant on Kelseys Road.

The brothers’ parents took a leap of faith and offered their life savings so they could open the very first KELSEYS in Oakville, Ontario.

2000s

Until 2008 KELSEYS used the theme song from TV sitcom Cheers. Restaurants had a similar look and feel to the bar in the show.
