Russell Williams is like family
Everyone has fond memories of a mom-and-pop restaurant from their childhood. The kind of place where the pancakes are stacked high, the fries are plentiful and the coffee flows freely. Maybe that’s why Russell Williams Family Restaurant is so popular. Owners Chris and Mary Plessas offer the same home-cooked food and warm welcome today that brought in the first customers over 75 years ago.
‘As long as nothing changes’
Nowadays, there are weekly specials and occasionally a new menu or dessert item, said Mary, speaking amid the pleasant hum of conversation during a recent breakfast period, she said there aren’t too many updates, there’s a bit of an uproar if everything changes too much, as long as nothing changes, everyone is happy”. Comfort food, friendly staff and consistency have helped the 75-seat restaurant stay popular for decades. A front patio to serve the breakfast crowd during warmer months, black upholstered lounge tables and a back area for regular dining and banquests were added during the past decade or two. The restaurant has a loyal following, which is confirmed by the many Burlington Post Reader’s Choice awards posted around the restaurant.
