The first Smoke & Spice was a tiny hole-in-the wall in Windsor, Ontario. It was just off the corner of Gladstone Avenue and Ottawa Street, a fitting spot for barbeque’s Canadian debut. The year was 2008, and we figured it was long past time that Canadians got a tasted of the legendary barbeque perfected by generations of pitmasters in the deep south. We hauled up a Southern Pride smoker with the capacity to smoke up to 1,300 pounds of meat in one go. We found a local source of maple, to give things a Canadian twist. We obsessed over our secret rub and barbeque sauces. Then we cooked up a menu unlike any other in the Great White North, fired up the smoker and started turning out some of Canada’s best pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken. Our family, friends and neighbours loved it, just like we hoped they would. Smoke & Spice became a hometown favourite for families, hockey teams and friends relaxing over a few beers, just like we imagined it would be. Now we’re bringing authentic southern barbeque to the rest of Canada. We know you’ll love it, too.
